19 Jan 2022 Ref-No#: 2569

In my home there are 2 rooms, one for us ( for me and my husband) and other one for my brother in-law.Even though there are 2 rooms…my brother in law uses and sleeps in our room but in our absence…

I and my husband used to stay in Bangalore because of my husband’s job. during this period..my brother in law stays and sleep in our room…but when we return back to home..then my brother in law goes to his room…

So is it permissible in Islam that in our absence can brother in law can stay and sleep in our bedroom??

Answer

WaʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh

A bedroom is generally a private area belonging to an individual or a couple.

This private area may not be intruded on by anyone, and may only be accessed by such persons who have been granted permission to do so.

Therefore, it is not correct for your brother-in-law to access your room and sleep therein without seeking permission from yourselves.
