Rights of husband and wife on each other

3- The wife is asking for weekly expenditure money from the husband, is it compulsory for him to give weekly expenditure money? If the answer is yes then how much?

Wa ʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh
- Amongst the rights of a husband upon his wife is that she obeys him (provided it is not in conflict with the Sharīʿah), shows kindness to him, protects her own chastity, protects his wealth, and fulfills his lawful sexual desires.
- Amongst the rights of a wife upon her husband is that he remains loyal to her, treats her with kindness, fulfills her lawful sexual desires, provides for her food, clothing and shelter, and all other basic necessities such as medical supplies, etc.
- Apart from the husband taking care of the basic needs of his wife, it is not compulsory for him to provide his wife with a weekly amount.
However, due to current times and circumstances, we recommend that he does give her some amount that she may spend on herself and other family members, in which case the amount would depend on his affordability and financial status.
