offering expiation for breaking an oath (kafaarat yameen) through a charity organisation and another question about the same topic

Assalamu aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

Is it permissible offering expiation for breaking an oath (kafaarat yameen) through a charity organisation, which will do it on a person’s behalf.
And if the person has fasted three days, but didn’t look so much into if he could offer the expiation for breaking an oath, should he then try to look again.
I’m soon looking for going in a university in shaa Allah and my income is very decent. I don’t provide for my family, only sometimes but then it’s not that much. Should I then offer the expiation for breaking an oath, i.e except for fasting

Jazakumallah khairan

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

It is permissible to appoint a representative in assisting you to pay the penalty for breaking an oath. In this case, the organisation will be your representative. They should be aware that they are paying for the breaking of the oath, and discharge accordingly.

A person would need to ponder and think properly whether at the time of keeping the fasts, if he had enough wealth for the penalty or not.

If, after exerting his mind, he concludes that he possessed enough wealth, the fasts are not sufficient.

As a precaution, if you want to pay the penalty, you may do so.

If he is confident that he did not have enough wealth, the three fasts are valid for the penalty.
