Assalamualaikum

I want to know ruling/answer for if it is permissible to tell wrong/lie for below instance?

I have made a google payments profile which is used to pay for the services and products we use offered by google. I need it for my business. In this profile it asks the account type whether it is for individual or organization (business) and the account type cannot be changed after submitting details. Once details are submitted and account(i.e. profile) is created and if it is for business we need some proofs of business like Corporate Identification Number, trust deed or partnership deed. Now I don’t have these documents(they are not free) as my business is in starting/initial phase and I will be using the services for business. Moreover the purpose of profile is that it contains transactions history, payment methods, subscriptions and services and address and invoices are created according to profile used for payment. Account type stated is used for tax and identity verification. I don’t know what purpose it serves to government or service providers, as individual account type has same features available as business type i.e. both can earn using services.

Can I use Individual account type?

Will this fall under lying, deceiving etc?

Jazaka Allahu Khair.

Answer

Wa ʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh

In this instance, it will not be permissible for you to use the ‘individual account type’.

Since you are wilfully choosing a service, you should ensure that you opt for the account type to that effect.
