Exam concerns

06 Apr 2023 Ref-No#: 5367

I passed phd math exam successfully. The exam time was at 1:00 pm but they took longer to bring exam questions. I used that additional waiting time to revise my lessons, the instructor told us to hide all lessons even though the exam questions didn’t arrive yet to our class. So I ignored him and kept revising till the exam started. Now I’m really concerned if what I’ve done is a law violation and if my success is haram. Is this action considered a cheat?
Plus, If I answered a question after allotted time, is it a cheat?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Islam obliges us to abide by rules and regulations. Although you should have listened to the instructor and returned the paper on time but your success is not haram.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
