contamination of permissible foods

20 Dec 2023 Ref-No#: 5623

I live with my family, and my brother eats non zabiha meat. Often he orders pizza and other takeaways with non halal meat. the oil on the containers of these takeaways often get on the tables in the kitchen. There is a rag to clean the table however, my question is do i have to wash every plate before i use it since often my brother does not wash plates properly and remnants of the haram food can be on plates. Also, am I allowed to use sauces, butter etc as often knives are left on the table before being put into the container for the butter, so the butter may be contaminated.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected questioner,
We commend you on your conscious for halal. It’s a sign of your iman and taqwa.
May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala grant your brother His love and obedience.

You must purify any remnants of Haraam on the table, plates etc.

Due to the gravity of the situation as a precautionary measure, if you are doubtful on the purity of any item do not consume it.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
