Can I compensate for not wearing a Hijab

11 Jan 2024 Ref-No#: 5664

I’m a doctor and live in a western country. I am a practicing muslim, dress modestly but do not wear Hijab. I won’t find excuses for that, like I will have trouble with keeping my job, etc., but I want to know, if there is something like a compensation (sadaqah, etc.) in order to “remove” my sin. I love my religion and it makes me such a humble and happy person! The only thing I cannot do (yet) is wearing a Hijab. I appreciate any response from you. Thank you very much.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected child,
The only compensation for removing your sin of not wearing hijab is by wearing a hijab.
Hijab is not an option. It is obligatory. Not wearing a hijab, is a very grave sin, please do not take it lightly.
Ask Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to change your heart, repent profusely at all times and especially while you are without a hijab around non mehrams. Keep company of pious hijabi women and thank your Lord for His immense blessings by obeying Him.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala make it easy for you to wear a hijab and obey Him ﷻ.
