Can I ask a girl to be my girlfriend but not talk or do anything until marrige
Assalam mualy kum is it permissible to go to a girl and make her your girlfriend but after that you don’t do anything haram or even talk to her up until marriage and you told her to be your girlfriend so then everyone else knows she is taken

Wa ʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh
Such acts are contrary to the teachings of Islām and should be avoided since it has had detrimental effects in our societies.
One such example is the case where two people commit themselves to marry each other, and despite no communication or impermissible acts, one of them changes his/her mind and is inclined to marry someone else. This then causes much harm to the next person who had been living all this time in expectation only to arrive at disappointment.
We advise, that when you are interested in a girl and ready to marry her, then at such a time to propose to her, make Nikāḥ with her, and ask Allāh to bless your union.
