Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu alaikum

Can I make istikhara about whether I should pray for a non muslim to become a muslim and whether it is good for me to marry him if he becomes a muslim?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear sister,

1: Praying for all non Muslims to become believers in our merciful Lord is the way of the prophets, one of the best forms of worship and the best gift for our fellow humans. As such, you should pray for him and all other disbelievers to accept the light of Islām.

2: There’s no need to do istikhara for a rewarding act of worship.

3: Since the person is currently a disbeliever, you should not make Istikhārah at this stage on whether to marry him.

3: If the said person converts to Islam, you may then consider marrying him. At that stage, you should discuss it with your elders and then make Istikhārah. You should ensure that the conversion was not just for marriage; he must sincerely and genuinely accept Islam.
