First Human on the Earth

20 Dec 2023 Ref-No#: 5621

Aoa,
It is commonly said that Hazrat Adam (AS) was the first human being on this earth and the time when he existed was about 10000 years ago. However, we have seen many archeologists who claims to find bones of humans who existed lacs or million years ago. Please if you could resolve this discrepency.

Regards

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Wa ‘alaykum us-salāmu wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Allah says in His glorious book;

اَلَا یَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَؕ-وَ هُوَ اللَّطِیْفُ الْخَبِیْرُ(67:14)

Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?

Allah the exalted is our creator, the creator of the heaven and earth and of everything in between. And also the Knower.

The Qur’an describes Him, the magnificent as;
“He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.”
Allah has the absolute knowledge of everything.

Science on the other hand, is probabilistic in nature and does not explain anything with absolute certainty. Every new data renders previous or existing models redundant, theories change. This is self-evident from the history of science, from the Copernican revolution overturning polemic models of the universe to Einstein’s general relativity overshadowing Newtonian mechanisms. Science is ever-changing.

To project scientific theories onto the Quran and islam is to establish belief on purely probabilistic ground, preventing assertion of the truth with absolute certainty.

So trust your lord and His knowledge while doubt the creations including humans and their knowledge.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
