Confusion in validity of salah if half durood is read in tashahhud

20 Apr 2024 Ref-No#: 6066

I am always in a state of confusion in salah, and this issue is related to tashahhud. Whenever I sit in tashahhud of the last rakat there is probably a high chance that i always get confused whether I have read the full durood sharif ( durood-e-ibraheem ) or half ( meaning only the part till ‘ allahumma barik ala muhammad… ‘ ) and whenever i get this confusion it sometimes forces me to an extent of breaking the prayer and this issue fills me up with frustration. So my questions are :-

1- What is the ruling on reading the full or half durood ?
2- Would it invalidate my salah ?
3- Would I always have to perform the sajda as sahw in this situtaion of the last rakat ?
4- What is the ruling if I do this when im leading a prayer ?

And much more information on the topic if very appreciated.

Prior to this i always had a confusion of sajdah ( whether i had made 1 or 2 sajdah ), thanks to Allah S.W.T that now the problem does not bother me any more.

I belong from the Hanafi Madhab.

Please try to reply at the earliest.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Dear son,
May Allah bless you with health and His love.
Hereunder are answers to your questions.

1:Durud ibrahimi is a sunnah part of our prayer
2:sometimes leaving it out due to some reason does not invalidate prayers.
If you are in doubt whether you read it or not then consider it read.
3: There is no need for a sajdah sahw, if some Sunnah act is not performed.
4: The ruling regarding confusion in Salah about durud is the same for the one leading the prayer and the one reading alone or in congregation i.e. the prayers is valid and no sajdah sahw is needed if a Sunnah act is not performed .
