Writing on Kaaba with fingers

20 Jun 2019 Ref-No#: 1948

Asalam-o-alikum
I have couple of questions. Is writing with finger on Kaaba allowed? I made duas to have a baby boy, I have already two daughters but now Allah gave me another baby girl, but we are happy with Allah decisions. I write a name to name my child but now it’s a girl. I am now confused if I did the right or wrong thing. The name was Ayaan, but I didn’t know that time that this name is also for girls. Should I name her Ayaan any way because I wrote it on Kaaba with fingers?
Second, can you please suggest a name for our baby girl, we are thinking about Marwah, Maryam or Ayaan.

Thank you.

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

There are no evidences that because of writing with ones finger on the Ka’bah, one will be blessed with a boy. Rather, this decision is solely in the hands of Allah. Allah says in verse 49 of Surah Shura,

يَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَن يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ

“He blesses who He wants with daughters, and He gives who He desires sons.”

Allah is Hakim (all wise). Alhamdulillah, you are happy with the decision of Allah. May Allah make all three daughters the coolness of your eyes.

You are not bound to name the child Ayaan, just because you wrote it on the Ka’bah.

In verses 35 and 36 of Surah Aal ‘Imraan, Allah speaks of how the mother of Maryam (‘alayha as Salam) anticipated a boy, but Allah blessed her with a girl. That girl dedicated her life to Masjid al-Aqsa and devoted herself to the worship of Allah. She then became the mother of ‘Isa (‘alayhi as Salam). On that note, we advise that you also name this daughter Maryam, with the hope that Allah will accept her just as He accepted Maryam (‘alayha as Salam)
