Vaginal Discharge and dreams
URGENT! Please help me, I really need it and have tried everywhere but I cannot find the exact answer. I follow the Hanafi school. I am an unmarried girl suffering from a lot of vaginal discharge leading to waswas and OCD, then eventually having to do ghusl which takes me about 1-2 hours. I usually have a lot of discharge and put on a panty liner, so it does not soil my clothes or undergarments. When I get up to pray Fajr, I must double check that my panty liner is not wet and if it is, I must recall my dream, I end up doing ghusl if I cannot recall my dream, this has caused me great difficulty and it is making religion very hard on me. I know the religion of Allah is easy, but I am suffering so much, in terms of purity. Today, I had dreams, I can only remember the two. I saw a guy and a girl kiss, the girl was naked although she covered her private part with her hand, but when I saw her, I felt disgusted, I think I was watching a movie in my dream and woke up. The second dream is where I saw my classmate who I liked in school. Like him and me kind of got back together and he touched my buttocks, but it was a pat nothing else happened. At the time he touched me, I thought of someone that I am currently in love with and felt bad. I woke up today and found discharge on my panty liner and saw a thick, cloudy sticky discharge. I am not sure if it was vaginal mucus as it was a jelly-like substance thing. I got so worried, and I was checking on websites here and there to see if it was part of a wet dream requirement. I’m so confused, and I know I didn’t have sexual intercourse with him but why is there a discharge like that? Before I urinated, I felt pressure and heaviness down there and when I got to the bathroom to urinate after cleaning off the other discharge, I saw another discharge of clear and milky like. To be honest with you, I do sweat down there and literally feel pressure down there too for no reason. I ended up not doing ghusl and just prayed my Zuhur and Asr salaah, I’m confused if I should do ghusl or not because some say if you were touched then you do ghusl, please help me, I am suffering a lot because of this discharge, waswas and OCD I face. Please advise me here rather than me having to check other websites and becoming more unsure. This discharge has caused me many problems since last year. May Allah SWT bless you. JazakAllah Khair.

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,
There are three fluids that emanate from a females private parts. These are:
- Manī (sperm): This discharge tends to be thick.
- Madhī: (prostatic fluid). It is a white thin, sticky fluid.
- Wadī is a white cloudy fluid that is thin and warm and has no smell.
If sperm is released when you have such dreams, then Ghusl is compulsory. Due to the erotic dreams that you are having, it is highly possible that it is indeed sperm. Even if you are doubtful, then too, Ghusl is compulsory.
Hereunder are some solutions:
- First address the root problem. You said you are unmarried. Then you said that you ‘thought of someone that I am currently in love with and felt bad’. You would need to break contact with that person, and then keep your mind and heart clean
- Sleep only when you are very tired
- Spend time on an empty belly.
- Recite Sūrah Ma’ārij and Sūrah Ṭāriq before sleep
Together with the above, (in your specific case based on what you mentioned) you should insert a tampon and sleep.
