Salat Al Tawbah

27 Feb 2023 Ref-No#: 4962

السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ
I have a question regarding Salat Al Tawbah.

I have read that “the one who purifies him self, and then offer 2 rakaat of repentance will be forgiven”. If I pray Salat Al Tawbah with the Wudu that I already have, instead of making a new one, will my repentance prayer count, or do I have to make a new wudu?

For example, I made Wudu, and prayed Ishaa, and after completed that, without making a new Wudu, I also perform Salat Al Tawbah, is the repentance prayer valid?

Also, can Salat Al Tawbah be prayed at any time (even in disallowed times)?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

It is best to make a new Wuḍū, since the Ḥadīth makes explicit mention of this.

However, if you already have Wuḍū and decide to pray Salāḥ at-Tawbah, it will be fine.

Yes, you may pray at any time, besides the prohibited and reprehensible times.
