Sajdah sahw
Assalamu alaikum
a latecommer WHILE PRAYING WITH IMAM made mistake in wajib of prayer and made sajdsahw while he was praying the remaining rakats alone. is this correct method?
Answer
Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
As long as the late comer was praying with the Imam, if he misses any Wajib, he does not have to perform the Sajda Sahw. Even whilst completing the missed Rakats, it will be incorrect for him to make Sajda Sahw.
However, if the late-comer already done a Sajda Sahw in a prayer where he made an error behind the Imam, he does not have to repeat that prayer now.

فصل : في بيان من يجب عليه سجود السهو و من لا يجب عليه
و أما بيان من يجب عليه سجود السهو و من لا يجب عليه فسجود السهو يجب على الإمام و على المنفرد مقصودا لتحقق سبب الوجود منهما و هو السهو فأما المقتدي إذا سها في صلاته فلا سهو عليه لأنه لا يمكنه السجود لأنه إن سجد قبل السلام كان مخالفا للإمام و إن أخره إلى ما بعد سلام الإمام يخرج من الصلاة بسلام الإمام لأنه سلام عمد ممن لا سهو عليه فكان سهوه فيما يرجع إلى السجود ملحقا بالعدم
لتعدد السجود عليه فسقط السجود عنه أصلا (بدائع الصنائع – 1/ 420)
