Repentance

06 Apr 2023 Ref-No#: 5371

Will allah accept my repentance for major sins which could put a person beyond the pale of islam if am unsure whether i commited them. i heard that acknowledging that you made a mistake is one of the conditions of repentance but what if i am not sure whether i commited them or not. I used to have unspeakable thoughts in the past whenever i was angry. is there a way for me to know that i was not content with them.i have repented to allah wholeheartedly. will my repentance be accepted if i am not sure whether i commited them. I have been suffering alot due to that question.please answer my question as soon as possible

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Respected brother,

The prophet ﷺ said,

كلُّ بني آدم خَطَّاءٌ، وخيرُ الخَطَّائِينَ التوابون

All the sons of Adam are sinners, but the best of sinners are those who repent often.”

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant when he turns penitently towards Him than one of you would be on finding the lost camel.

Repentance is always accepted even if you have sinned.

Your repentance is valid.  Do not suffer due to these thoughts, do not listen to the devil.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
