Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

The situation you described requires careful consideration from both an Islamic and personal perspective.

  1. Living Situation:
    • Since you currently live in the same house, it is crucial to strictly adhere to Islamic guidelines to avoid any inappropriate interactions. Maintaining boundaries and avoiding khalwah (being alone together in a private setting), impermissible discussions, or any interaction that could lead to temptation (fitna) is essential. Prolonged close proximity can present challenges, so it is important to handle the situation with care.

  1. Permissibility of Marriage:
    • Islamic Perspective: Islam permits marriage between individuals who are not related by blood, fostering, or any ties that create a maḥram relationship. Since there are no maḥram relations between you and the girl, it is permissible to marry her, provided all Islamic guidelines are observed.

  1. Your Responsibilities:
    • Practical Considerations: Consider your current lifestyle, career plans, and the girl’s situation.
    • Hifz and Qurʾānic Studies: Completing your hifz and maintaining your connection to the Qurʾān should remain a priority. These religious obligations will provide you with spiritual strength and guidance.
    • Marriage Preparation: Before considering marriage, evaluate your readiness in terms of financial stability, maturity, and your ability to fulfill marital rights and responsibilities, including providing for your wife and maintaining a household.

  1. Her Advice:
    • The advice to leave your hifz and work while continuing to read the Qurʾān regularly should be weighed carefully. While financial independence is important, do not hastily abandon your religious goals. Discuss a balanced approach that allows you to continue your hifz while preparing for future responsibilities.

  1. Next Steps:
    • Seek Guidance: Consult a knowledgeable local scholar who understands your circumstances and can offer personalized advice.
    • Consultation: Have an open conversation with your elders about your intentions. Seek their advice on whether to marry now or later, and whether this particular girl is a suitable match.

In summary, marriage to this girl is permissible, but there is much to consider, and it is essential to adhere to Islamic guidelines. Do not be hasty. Carefully consider your priorities, particularly your Qurʾānic studies, and seek guidance to make a well-informed decision. In the meantime, ensure that you do not unnecessarily interact with her.

And Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala knows best.
