Question

Salam alaykum
Is it permissible for me to make a baby photo album for my young child? And can I also take home videos of him?

Answer

WaʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh

All scholars are unanimous on the fact that the printing out of images onto paper of whichever type is impermissible; hence, one will not be permitted to make a baby photo album.

In the case of videos, there exists a difference of opinion amongst the scholars. Therefore, one should exercise caution in this regard, and since it is a grey area, it would be best to abstain from unnecessarily doing so.
