Is it allowed to watch movies in Islam? Such as a family daily soap on TV?

Do I need to wear a scarf while doing random tasbeeh such as astagfar at home and do i need to do wazu?

Answer

Assalāmuʿalaykum Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh

1. It is not permissible to watch movies and series for it contains at least a few of the following impermissible elements:

Nudity according to its Sharʿī definition.
Music and other impermissible speech and sounds.
Manners and speech of the people of immorality and disbelief; hence, leading to admiration for them and their ways.
Wasting of time.
Heedlessness of Allāh ﷻ.
Neglecting of Ṣalāh.
Promoting and encouraging evil.
Promiscuity.
Intermingling of the genders.
Profanity.
Violence.
Crime.
Greed.
Corruption.
Dishonesty.
Atheism.
Secularism.
Mockery of religion.
Disrespect.
Defiance of authority.
Disobedience of parents, teachers and elders.
Following one’s whims and desires indiscriminately.

2. Whilst it is not a requirement for Tasbīḥ and Istighfār to cover the hair and be in the state of Wuḍū, it is desirable and recommended to do so as it displays a great deal of reverence for such acts and for the name of Allāh ﷻ.
