Is Taking Company’s ex-gratia(Employee encourage incentive) from it’s Fixed Deposits Interest (Riba) soucre halal for me as employee?
As-salamu alaykum, I am courrently working as an Assistent Manager (Admin) in a goverment gas distribution company. This company’s main income comes from selling natural gas to different kind of customers. This company offers to all of its employees a special kind of incentive called ex-gratia other than Salary. But the source of this incentive is company’s fixed deposit interest (Riba).
So my question is as an employe, this ex-gratia/gift/incentive is permissible (halal) for me?
Answer
Wa’alaykum as-Salām wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,
If you are absolutely sure that the ex-gratia/gift/incentive is from Ḥarām, then it will not be permissible to accept such a gift.
If you do not know with certainty whether the ex-gratia is indeed from the Ḥarām itself or even if you have a little doubt, then it will be permissible to accept the gift.
