23 Oct 2021 Ref-No#: 3631

Assalamu alaikum Sheikh, i want to know if it’s allowed, better, wajib or not allowed to fight in a specific situation for example fighting for oneself, others or relatives(with or against), to protect ones or others property, fighting enemy with more power or less, knowing consequences will be bad, good or confused, or any other point that can change rules, i want to know and understand all rules and rewards so that i can understand by myself rules for a specific situation and do what i possibly can, dear Sheikh please guide me to a book or chapter of book if available and if its not possible to get a answer here.

Answer

Wa ʿAlaykum Salām Wa Raḥmatullāh wa barakātuhu,

In principle, one is encouraged to defend their rights and belongings.

There are many forms of defense, and ‘fighting’ is not the only form.

If one is faced with a situation that requires ‘fighting’, then this will be based on one’s discretion i.e., if one feels that he will be overpowered, then he should maybe refrain; and if one is sure that he will overpower the enemy, then he may fight to defend himself, his family, or his property.
