Fasting twice a week
Is it a sunnah to fast twice a week?if yes, then which days ?
Answer
Wa’alaykum as Salām wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,
Abū Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet of Allāh ﷺ said:
“The deeds of people are presented (to Allāh) on Mondays and Thursdays. Therefore, I love that my actions are presented whilst I am fasting.” [Al-Tirmidhī]
Based on the above narration, it is a Sunnah practice to fast on Mondays and Thursdays provided that they are not the days of Eid nor do they occur on the three days after Eid Al-Aḍḥā.
