Do I stay a Ma’zur for passing wind based on the assumption?

19 Dec 2021 Ref-No#: 4240

Asalamualaikum, I am a Ma’zur for passing wind, I becam a Ma’zur when I realised that I could not pray a whole prayer time with purity, but I realised that I wasn’t paying attention to the starting of the prayer time. But I assume that I was passing wind and the starting, because it is a problem I have had for the past years, and if I don’t regard myself as a Ma’zur I have to make whudu 2 to 7 times just to pray a prayer. I don’t check that I pass wind every prayer time, but I am sure that I do so I assume that I do. Do I still stay Ma’zur?

Answer

Wa ʿAlaykumus Salām Wa Raḥmatullāhi Wa Barakātuh

You have mentioned that you are ‘sure’ you pass wind with every prayer time, but at the same time, you have mentioned that you ‘assume’ you do.

You would need to clarify with yourself the certainty of passing wind with each prayer time, as the reason and basis for being Mʿathūr have to be factual and not based on assumption.

The simple thing for you to do will be to take note during each Salāh time, over the next few weeks, whether you break wind or not. If you notice that a prayer time passes without you breaking wind, then you will no longer be regarded as a Mʿathūr.
